CEO Biography / Board

Dr. David Curry is the Chief Executive Officer of the Rescue Mission, formerly known as Tacoma Rescue Mission. He has been at the organization’s helm since 2005.

David is a world-renowned expert on the subject of ethical leadership and life transformation. He has addressed diverse groups from the Congress of Peru, social workers in the Amazon jungle and drug recovery programs to Cingular Wireless and AT&T employees. He is known for his simple, exciting lessons on how to face life’s most difficult challenges.

David is author of four books, including his newest, First Aid For Enablers. He is the founder and former President of the Foundation for Grace, an organization that provides leadership and management training to non-profits in South America. He is also a former Chairman of the Tacoma Public Utility Board. He has received numerous honors and awards, including the “Emerging Leader” award from Tacoma’s City Club, an Outstanding Leader by the Best Christian Workplace Organization and a “Top Forty Under Forty” in the Puget Sound.

David and his wife of 20 years, Kate, reside in Tacoma with their two sons.

Board President, Donna Haynes, CPCU 

Donna is a Vice-President and the Commercial Lines Manager at Pilkey-Hopping & Ekberg, Inc. and has been with the agency since 1981.

Her professional involvement outside the agency has included serving as President of the Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers of Washington State from 2004-2005.  She was also a state board representative from 1997 – 2008 and served on several committees including the Legislative Committee, Products & Service Committee, Strategic Planning Executive Committee, and Government Affairs.   She has served as the local treasurer of the Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of Pierce County for the past nine years.  Donna is a member of the Pacific Chapter for Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) and has a continuing professional development designation.

Donna is involved in her community by serving as the President of Board of Directors for the The Rescue Mission and has served on the Board of Directors and several committees for the United Way of Pierce County.  She is a member of Rotary 8 and serves on finance and community grants.  In addition, she is a member of Life Center, where she and her family attend.

With all that Donna is involved in, she still finds time to have fun!  In fact, “fun” is her middle name.  She enjoys water color painting, baking, vacationing, hanging out with her girlfriends, reading and enjoying life with her husband of 12 years, Paul.  The light of her life is her son, Jarrod, who is attending the University of Washington majoring in Finance.
