CEO Biography / Board
David Curry is the Chief Executive Officer of the Rescue Mission, formerly known as Tacoma Rescue Mission. He has been at the organization’s helm since 2005.
David is a world-renowned expert on the subject of ethical leadership and life transformation. He has addressed diverse groups from the Congress of Peru, social workers in the Amazon jungle and drug recovery programs to Cingular Wireless and AT&T employees. He is known for his simple, exciting lessons on how to face life’s most difficult challenges.
David is author of three books, including his newest, BOUNCE! He is the founder and former President of the Foundation for Grace, an organization that provides leadership and management training to non-profits in South America. He is also a former Chairman of the Tacoma Public Utility Board. He has received numerous honors and awards, including the “Emerging Leader” award from Tacoma’s City Club, an Outstanding Leader by the Best Christian Workplace Organization and a “Top Forty Under Forty” in the Puget Sound.
David and his wife of 20 years, Kate, reside in Tacoma with their two sons.
Board President, Terry Brink
Terry was born and raised in Tacoma. He is married and has two sons, two daughters and one grandchild. Terry, his wife Kerry, and their teenage son are members of Marine View Presbyterian Church. He received a business degree at Pacific Lutheran University and his law degree at University of Puget Sound. Terry practices law in Pierce County and is a partner and chair of the Real Estate and Land Use practice group at the Eisenhower & Carlson law firm in Tacoma.
As Terry has learned more about the Rescue Mission from his days volunteering in the kitchen with fellow church members, to attending graduation ceremonies and now Board meetings, he has become increasingly appreciative of the many opportunities for the transformation of lives that the Mission affords. He is honored to be associated with the Rescue Mission.
