Programs & Facilities / Youth Program

Homelessness and substance abuse take a huge toll on children. In fact, children who experience homelessness are much more likely to be homeless as adults.

The Rescue Mission’s Youth Program nurtures, supports and educates children to help break the cycle of homelessness and abuse. This program offers after-school activities focused on educational tutoring and homework help. Additionally, children enjoy games, sports, mentoring and other activities that help them forge healthy habits and trusting relationships.

Program details

  • Our School Program offers a safe place for youth ages Kindergarten and older to receive tutoring, complete homework, and eat a nutritious snack.
  • During the summer, we also offer SLAM (Students Living a Mission), with expanded activities, including camping and mission trips, community gardening, field trips to parks and museums, and career exploration.
  • Twice a month the Mission teens come together to watch movies, play games, go camping, and be authentically themselves. We also collaborate with other community based Youth Programs to build a safe network of peers.
  • The Rescue Mission hosts a site where Boy Scouts/Girl Scouts troops meet on a weekly basis.
  • Once a month families come together to celebrate and participate in healthy, unity building activities. There are many annual events, field trips, and activities that are included in the Youth program.
